What makes your saliva glands over react when you see a good food commercial on tv?

because you start thinking what the food would taste like, and so your brain reacts and starts preparing for you to eat that food. its advertisment, which wouldnt be natural for humans in the first place. so a few hundered years ago when there was no tv or billboards then you would have looked at food and prepared for food. :P
